- Needle and thread or sewing machine
- Stuffing or pillow insert (8" x 8")
- Scissors
- Pins
- Fabric marker or chalk
- Optional: Velcro, snap, or button for pocket closure
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut Your Fabric
- Cut two 10" x 10" squares of your main pillow fabric.
- Cut one 5" x 6" rectangle for your pocket.
Step 2: Prepare the Pocket
- Fold the top edge of the pocket piece (6" side) down about ½
inch and press.
- Sew across the folded edge to make a neat hem.
- Optional: Add Velcro, snap, or a button on this hemmed edge to
create a closure.
Step 3: Attach the Pocket
- Pin the pocket to the right side of one pillow square, about 2
inches from the bottom edge and centered side-to-side.
- Sew along the sides and bottom of the pocket to attach it,
leaving the top open.
Step 4: Sew the Pillow
- Place the two pillow squares right sides together (the pocket
will be hidden inside).
- Pin the edges.
- Sew around all four sides with a ½ inch seam allowance,
leaving a 3-inch opening on one side for turning and stuffing.
- Clip corners to reduce bulk, being careful not to cut your
stitches.
Step 5: Turn and Stuff
- Turn the pillow right side out through the opening.
- Use a pencil or chopstick to poke out the corners.
- Stuff with pillow fill or insert.
Step 6: Close the Opening
- Tuck in the raw edges of the opening and hand stitch it closed
using a ladder stitch or whipstitch.

Done!
You now have a cozy pillow with a secret pocket - perfect for
notes, bedtime trinkets, or tiny treasures.
