Skirt pattern

Skirt pattern

I am trying to make an elastic waistband jean skirt that is A-line. I do not know what shape my two pieces of material should be (for the front and back panels). Could you help me please?

A. The best option would be to use a skirt you may have already and use it as a pattern. You can lay your material folded in two. Lay your skirt on top and cut out your two pieces, front and back at one time. Cut about 1/2 inch extra to allow for your seam allowances. When you sew two pieces together you will lose some of the inches or 1/2 inch where you will sew the pieces together, this is a seam allowance.

Be careful not to cut your skirt while you are cutting out your material. As an alternative you can use a large piece of butcher paper or patch large pieces of paper together with tape, you could lay your skirt on top of the paper and cut out a paper pattern to use instead.
