Sewing in the Pines is a unique opportunity for kids and teens to learn how to sew at the Nacogdoches Recreation Center and using
the Winky Cherry System of sewing.
Classes are held at Hobby Lobby Craftcenter in Nacogdoches or at Sewing in the Pines instructor Julie Larsen's home.
Class offerings include hand sewing techniques for young children ages 6-8. Children learn to hand sew various items including a doll.
Children from 8-11 can learn how to machine sew. Projects include bags, scrunchies, quilting, clothes, and more.
Teenagers from 12-18 can learn how to machine sew for their room and fashion: pillows, curtains, quilts, clothes, and more.
I also take adult students who usually work on their own individual projects.
Children and teens learn machine safety and Julie Larsen plans on becoming a certified sewing instructor with Palmer/Pletch within a year. Julie has a B.S. degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Family Consumer Sciences (old name Home Economics). She also has a Master's degree in Library Science.
Please contact Julie Larsen via Hobby Lobby of Nacogdoches for more information on classes.
