Embroidered animals

Squares of felt in different colors
Embroidery thread and buttons
Small bit of cotton for stuffing


I took some small squares of different colors of felt, drew on some simple outlines from a coloring book using different animals. Don't cut out yet.

Show the kids how to do the simple embroidery stitches and let them stitch on the felt.

Then cut the little animals out and show them how to do the buttonhole stitch to hold it together, leaving a place to stuff with cotton. Sew up hole, sew on big button eyes and enjoy.


Sorry about the picture being dark. I had to scan it in due to a broken camera. I think you can still see it well enough though. :)
