Beach Towel Bag

To make a beach towel bag you can either use a beach towel, large towel or a hand towel for a smaller size bag.

You will need:
Beach towel or large towel
Washcloth
Nylon rope, cording or webbing for handles
sewing supplies

Lay the towel out on a table and fold the bottom third up to the middle. Pin a washcloth in the middle.

Unfold towel and sew along three sides of washcloth to make a pocket. Fold bottom third back in place. Stitch along the two sides. The top third portion will be a flap that you can tuck into the bag or drape over the front.

Make the handles by cutting your rope or cording to desired length. The length of your rope will depend on your size of bag. To make it stronger I made 2 handles each, 40 inches long. Sew cording on sides of towel, backstitching several times to make it secure.

Hand Towel Bag

If you don't want such a large bag, use a hand towel and continue with the directions above. Use 1 yard, which is 36 inches, of cording.

You can also sew a simple handle by cutting 2 lengths, 12 inches long of webbing. Sew a handle on each side of the bag. This handle won't fit over the shoulder like above, it will just be a handle to carry in your hand.

Use this hand towel bag project instead of adding a strap, cut a small slit on the top and insert your hanger. Hang on your clothesline.
